Anastasia State Park
Anastasia State Park is another "gem" of a park. It is located midway between St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach. The park consists of four miles of pristine beach, a hammock forest, and an old coquina pit. It is believed that the coquina mined at this pit may have been used to construct the Castillo de San Marcos. "Lynn was right boys, this really is a great beach!" | A full service campground consisting of 139 campsites is also available. The campsites are nestled among the large, moss-laden oaks that make up the forest hammock. The sites are spacious with clean bathhouses just a short walk away. A small camp store, Island Joe’s, sells those forgotten toothbrushes and other goodies. They also rent bicycles, beach chairs and umbrellas. Salt Run, a tidal salt marsh, is the perfect spot to windsurf, canoe, kayak and fish. Great blue herons, egrets, pelicans, and numerous other creatures are apt to be spotted around the marsh. Anastasia Watersports | Anastasia Watersports, located within the park on Salt Run, has a complete line of windsurfing equipment, one and two man kayaks, canoes, catamarans, and pedal boats for rent. They also offer sailing instructions. Numerous pavilions are spaced throughout the park, so bring along a picnic to enjoy. A guide to the park hiking trails can be picked up at the entrance. Most of the trails are flat, typical of Florida terrain, as they wind through the hammock. Brochures are also available that will help you identify our local feathered residents. Our beautiful beach | Be sure to bring along your camera. There are many spots where you can take exceptional photographs.
