Ancient City Baptist Church

Ancient City Baptist Church was organized in 1887. Henry Flagler donated the lot with the stipulation that the congregation had only two years to qualify for the gift by erecting their house of worship at a cost of not under $10,000. and must be debt-free. They met the challenge. Dedication of the church followed its completion in 1896.

The tan brick Sanctuary has a Norman tower and oval stained glass windows. It was renovated in 1953 and again in 2003. Dee Tarrant, a retired glass craftsman, repaired the original stained glass windows and designed new matching windows where they were needed.

Mr. Flagler also requested there be no bells in the bell tower so as not to conflict with his beloved Memorial Presbyterian bells on Sunday morning. To this day there are no bells in the tower.
