The main buildings on the campus are listed as National Historic Landmarks, stemming from their past as part of the Hotel Ponce de Leon built by Henry Flagler in the late 1800's. Mr. Flagler spared no expense, building only the best. He brought in the "big guns" to assist him. Work of Thomas Edison assured the Ponce was the first hotel in Florida with electricity and Louis Comfort Tiffany's stained glass windows can still be seen today. A beautiful location for this campus. The school originally opened as a women's college in 1968 and became coeducational in 1971. More than 43 million dollars has been spent in renovations and adding new, modern buildings. The new multi-million dollar student center on Sevilla Street is just one of many built to accommodate the ever increasing enrollment at this special school. Flagler College has been included for five years in The Princeton Review's annual "Best 368 Colleges" book. Only 15% of four-year colleges are included in the book. Accolades include, "personal attention, intimate campus experience, and relatively inexpensive". The College is also featured in The Princeton Review's 2008 edition of "America's Best Value Colleges." Congratulations for these well deserved honors. Programs of Study
