Florida State Motto

"In God We Trust" Although accepted as the state motto since 1868, it wasn't until July 1, 2006 that it became official.

Florida State Tree

Sabal Palm aka Sabal Palmetto or Cabbage Palm. This palm is native to our state. It is extremely salt tolerant and hurricane resistant both of which have helped it to thrive throughout the state. This fan palm is used quite frequently as a landscape plant giving homes an instant tropical look.

Florida State Animal

Florida Panther, a very endangered species! This handsome cat is one of 30 Puma subspecies sometimes referred to as cougars or puma. It is estimated that there are less than 100 adults in the only known breeding area in South Florida. The loss of habitat to development, vehicles and other natural causes threaten the future of the Florida Panther.

Florida State Bird

The official state bird of Florida is the Northern Mocking bird, at least for now. The Florida Scrub Jay or possibly the Osprey may end up ousting the Mockingbird as our state bird.
