Florida Fishing License
First, before you make your first cast, you must obtain your Florida fishing license. It is quick, easy and quite reasonable. Licenses are based on the type of species you are fishing for, no matter where you fish. Florida Saltwater Fishing LicenseNon-Resident Fees (2009): - 3-Day Florida Saltwater
(Valid three days from specified beginning date) - $17.00.
- 7-Day Saltwater
(Valid seven days from specified beginning date) - $30.00
- 12-Month Saltwater
(Valid for 12 months from specified beginning date) - $47.00
Florida Resident Fees (2009): - 12-Month Florida Saltwater Fishing License - $17.00
- Annual combination saltwater and freshwater - $32.50
- Saltwater Shoreline License - $9.00
Florida Freshwater Fishing License fees are the same as the above Florida Saltwater Fishing License fees. A resident is defined by the State of Florida as one who has lived in the state for 6 continuous months. A Florida driver's license is required as proof.
Exemptions: - You will not need a license if you are fishing from the St. Augustine Beach pier or from a licensed for-hire boat.
- Youth, under 16 years of age, do not need a license, however they do need to abide by all other Florida fishing regulations such as gear, bag and size limits.
- Florida residents, age 65 and over, are not required to purchase a license. You will need to have proof of age and residency with you when fishing.
