St. Augustine, Florida Hostel
A New Way to Stay

For budget minded travelers a Florida hostel is a great place to stay.

You'll find a St. Augustine hostel offers the same unique amenities that Europeans have enjoyed for years. Low rates, kitchen privileges, friendly service, clean and comfortable rooms and fun times rivaling those found any other place in the world. This is truly a unique new way to stay, at least for me.

Casa Yallaha - A wonderful St. Augustine hostel featuring friendly service, very affordable rates and a convenient location right in the heart of downtown St. Augustine.

I had a wonderful tour with Tim as my guide and I can heartily recommend Casa Yallaha!

Once a "Yallahinian" always a "Yallahinian", you'll see.

Hostels have been around for years and traditionally offered beds, just beds; with guests sharing a bathroom, living room, common areas and sometimes kitchen privileges. Actually, the very first hostel opened in 1912 in Germany. It was to be a place where poor city children could go to "breathe fresh air".

The children were responsible for the upkeep which helped to reduce expenses and at the same time build character. In those early days, the youth were locked-out during the afternoon hours to encourage outdoor activities. The concept caught on and has seen rapid growth all over the world, not only for youth but anyone and everyone.

A modern Florida hostel is a bit different to those of years past. You are apt to find your choice of single rooms, double rooms, family rooms, as well as, the traditional bed in a dorm room. Although, all must have the dorm style rooms in order to use the name hostel.

You'll also find folks of all ages, hostels aren't just for young people anymore. You won't have to work and I promise you won't be locked out! Just relax and enjoy yourselves.

You'll find several differences between hostels and hotels or bed and breakfasts.

The first is the price, they are very reasonably priced. Second, you'll have your choice of room accommodations, plus kitchen privileges, comfortable common areas, an extensive library of books, DVD's and games.

They are also known to have a very social environment where guests enjoy getting to know each other.

You'll have an opportunity to meet fellow travelers from around the world. For those who enjoy an active social life this is a great way to stay.

If you are budget minded or just would like to experience a new way to stay try a local St. Augustine hostel.
