Grace United Methodist Church

Grace United Methodist Church was established in 1881 on the current day site of the Lightner Building; a location Mr. Henry Flagler thought would be perfect for his new Alcazar Hotel.

Being the kind and decent man he was, Mr. Flagler proposed that if the members would give him the land where their current church was, he would build them a new church and parsonage in a different location.

So, the Methodist members of the Olivet Church agreed and the new church and parsonage was complete in the late 1880’s.

The architects, John Carrere and Thomas Hastings were employed by Flagler to design both the church and his new Alcazar Hotel. Grace Church is a wonderful example of Spanish Renaissance Revival style architecture.

This beautiful church is a popular place to have a wedding. If you are thinking in this direction I would advise making your reservation as early as possible.
