Memorial Presbyterian Church In Loving Memory of Jenny Louise.
Memorial Presbyterian Church was founded in 1824 as the First Presbyterian Church of St. Augustine. The first house of worship was built of coquina that was quarried on Anastasia Island. Construction began in 1826 and took several years to finish.
The present day church was built by Henry Morrison Flagler in memory of his daughter, Jenny Louise Benedict, in 1890. At that time the name was changed to Memorial Presbyterian Church. The bell in the east tower and the five coquina pillars surrounding the church are all original to the old First Church building.
The ninety rank Aeolian-Skinner Pipe Organ fills the sanctuary with beautiful music at both services. Concerts are held on several occasions throughout the year that are well worth attending.
