St. Augustine Beach Restaurants
St. Augustine Beach restaurants are a treat. You'll find everything from smoothies and a burrito to upscale fine dining. I am going to list a few of our favorites that we think you should try. We do have a new addition to our pages, the "St. Augustine Beach Food Snob". I can't reveal who it is, of course, but I can assure you it is someone who loves food and has a very discerning pallet. I appreciate the "Snobs" willingness to share these great reviews of our St. Augustine Beach restaurants.
Chef Peter Kenney & Deidre Byerly Kenney, Dining Manager | Purple Olive is a restaurant you’ll really enjoy. Its location shouldn’t fool you as it’s located in a strip mall, but the food is far from anything commonplace and the atmosphere is quiet and low-key. What’s so innovative about this pleasant place is that the owners Peter and Deidre Kenney offer you a unique menu. Besides the usual choices of appetizers and salads and entrees, you also have the opportunity to pick from the chef’s grill. Did I mention that owner Peter is also the chef? The chef’s grill gives you the opportunity to build your own entree. You may order from the diverse menu of anything from catch of the day, or several beef selections, chicken or pork to herb rubbed tofu and then you pick from an assortment of sauces to accompany your choice plus choose from a variety of side items. Sautéed kale with pine nuts and golden raisins is one of my favorites. This is a unique way of eating. Let’s not forget desserts. All are made right on the premises and include such delights as creme brulé, fruit tarts and a chocolate toffee gâteau not to be missed. There are wines and beers to delight everyone's tastes. Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 5:00 p.m. Purple Olive 4255 A1A S, Seaside Plaza, Suite 6 Saint Augustine, FL 32080 (904)461-1250Reviewed by the St. Augustine Beach Food Snob
Mango Mango's | Being a surfer/beach girl my entire life, Mango Mango's is one of my favorite St. Augustine Beach restaurants! I love the way they have decorated with bright colors and a fun beach theme. This Caribbean-style restaurant is reasonably priced, with great burgers, chicken, and fish sandwiches! I personally love their veggie burgers. But if you go, be sure and try the Mango Monster Pie. Coffee ice cream over an Oreo pie shell topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and almonds… it's well worth going there just for this! Located on the corner of A Street and A1A Blvd., it's just a short walk to the beach! You'll need to move your car to the public parking area across the street before heading down to the beach. Hours: Monday - Saturday 11am - 10pm Sunday 12pm - 9pm Mango Mango's Beachside Bar and Grille 700 A1A Beach Blvd St. Augustine, FL 32080 (904)461-1077Review by Jessica
Stir It Up | Located on the side of The Pit surf shop on A Street, Stir it Up is another personal favorite! For a healthy alternative, you've got to try this one. I love getting the "Starvin' Surfer" after a long day of surfing. Just a burrito with beans, cheese, and rice and tortilla chips on the side! Or, you can upgrade and get the "Surfer Chick", which is the same burrito with chicken in it. Their organic smoothies are also a favorite of many St. Augustinians. With the more familiar ones, ripe strawberries and bananas with apple juice, right down to the not-so-familiar ones such as peanut butter and jelly, they're all delicious! You'll love grabbing a smoothie and taking a walk to the beach! Hours: Every Day 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Stir It Up 18 A Street Saint Augustine Beach, FL 32080 (904)461-4552Review by Jessica
Anyone for Key Lime Pie? | If ever you want a wonderful meal at one of our St. Augustine Beach restaurants, La Cocina, is the place to go. The food is delicious and more importantly, it is consistently delicious. The presentation will take your breath away as well. A must try is the crab bisque with a petite crab cake floating on top of this luscious creamy soup. If your appetite is on the small size follow it with one of their creative appetizers such as the shrimp wild mushroom crepes or the jumbo crab meat napoleon. Another choice would be to pick from the array of light platters. Blackened pan seared scallops is just delicious. Or order a main course if you want to indulge in a larger meal. And speaking of indulging, a must for dessert is the creme brulé. Made just the way a brulé should be, a rich custard base topped with a layer of hard caramel. The variety and choices are hard to choose from as you will see when you sit down in this well appointed restaurant and read the menu. I, for one, am working my way through many of these delectable choices each time I eat there. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait for your meal, but the wait is worth it for the food is special. Hours: Monday - Sunday Breakfast 7:00 a.m. Lunch 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday Dinner 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday - Saturday Dinner 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sunday Dinner 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Closed Monday La Cocina 530 A1A Beach Blvd St Augustine, FL 32080 (904) 461-8288Review by the “St. Augustine Beach Food Snob”.
Cafe Eleven, another great beach restaurant | Cafe Eleven is eclectic and delicious. How does a cheese steak panini or 3 cheese & tomato sandwich or brodrique, or maybe a mozzacado sandwich sound? Have I piqued your interest? My favorite is their signature 501 Salad which consists of fresh romaine, sprouts, walnuts, feta, and balsamic vinaigrette. You'll be sure to enjoy whatever you order here. Save room for dessert - they are amazing. Chocolate molten souffle anyone? Enjoy! Cafe Eleven is also a wonderful, intimate music venue. Stop in, have a bite to eat and see who will be playing at upcoming shows. Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Everyday Cafe Eleven 501 A1A Beach Blvd. St. Augustine, FL 32080 (904) 460-9311
