St. Augustine Beaches,
Fun Things to Do

First on the list of St. Augustine Beaches fun things to do is, of course, the beach. It is certainly the biggest draw for locals and visitors alike.

Beautiful, relaxing St. Augustine Beach, Florida

Whether you are interested in surfing, strolling, swimming, hunting for shells, flying a kite or a brisk walk for your daily exercise; St. Augustine beaches are the place to be.

How about testing your skills on the waves? Surfboards are available to rent at any of our local surf shops.

They also carry a wide range of gear. Surf wax, wet suites, baggies, and most popular lines of beach clothing. You can grab a board and hit the waves for a day of fun.

The St. Augustine beach pier has lots of fun things to do:

  • If you are up for a challenging game of volleyball, there are several courts located on the north side of the parking lot. You can get your own game going or join in with one that is happening.
  • Splash pad park at the Pier

  • Our new splash pad is great fun for the kids. Little ones will have fun zipping under the squirts of water, splishing and splashing to their hearts content. Mom can relax while the kids play.
  • On the ocean side of the splash pad area you'll find an outdoor shower. You can do a full rinse off or there is a lower faucet for rinsing off your feet. It helps to keep the sand on our St. Augustine beaches and out of your car.
  • Wednesday is a big day. In the morning, from 7:30 until 12:30, you'll find the Wednesday Market in the parking lot. In the evening, May through September, free concerts are held in the pavilion. A beautiful spot to listen to some great local musicians.
  • One of the area's great fishing spots is here as well. Bring your rod and reel and see what you land. Bait is available at the Bait and Tackle Shop located at the entrance to the pier. Click here to learn more about fishing in St. Augustine.

Further on down A1A, you'll find Fiesta Falls mini golf. The kids, big and little will enjoy a round of mini-golf at this fun course.

If your up for a short drive, I would suggest a visit to Fort Matanzas National Monument. This little park offers a great deal. You'll take a ferry ride across the Matanzas River over to the fort. After you tour the fort, there is a short nature trail that winds along a boardwalk under a canopy of old oaks. A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Halfway between St. Augustine Beach and St. Augustine is one of our favorite places to visit, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. Plan on a full afternoon or morning to visit as there is lots to see and do.

Close to the Alligator Farm is Anastasia State Park. This park has lots to offer including kayak, wind surfing and canoe rentals. Or you can hike along some of the many trails in the park. The beach area in the park is hardly ever crowded. You can walk north along the beach all the way to the St. Augustine inlet.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse is also located in this area. You can't miss it, just look up and head that way. If you are energetic, a climb to the top offers a view that you won't soon forget.
