St. Augustine Florida;
Getting Here is a Breeze

Sunny, St. Augustine, Florida is located in the northeast corner of the state. Getting here is a breeze. We’re about 40 miles south of Jacksonville and 60 miles north of Daytona Beach just off of Interstate 95. Orlando is just a short two hour drive southwest.

We are very easy to find and our small size makes getting around relatively simple. No getting lost in the “big city” around here.

Driving to St. Augustine:

* If you are traveling south on Interstate 95, take exit #318 — State Road 16. Turn left and head east about 5 –6 miles. You’ll be on the north side of town.

* If you are heading north on Interstate 95, take exit #298 — US Hwy 1. Turn right and head north to St. Augustine, approximately 16 miles.

For more detailed directions type your starting address in the box below. Google will bring back more precise directions for your particular location.

Flying to St. Augustine:

Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) or Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) are the two closest commercial airports. We fly in and out of Jacksonville as there seems to be a wider variety of flights at a better price.

Once you arrive I would suggest renting a car. All of the major car rental agencies can be found at the terminal. Both airports are just a short drive to Interstate 95. See above for further driving directions.

The St. Augustine Airport is located just north of town and can accommodate most private and corporate jets. The facility, managed by Galaxy Aviation, includes an 8,000 ft runway with large well lit ramps.

Rail Service to St. Augustine:

Palatka, 40 miles west of St. Augustine, has the closest train station. Check with Amtrack for train schedules.

At this time, there is no public transportation from Palatka to St. Augustine. You will either need to rent a car or hail a taxi (quite expensive).

Getting Around

Once you arrive, park your car wherever you are staying and take advantage of the Old Town Trolley’s or Sightseeing Trains. It is a great way to see the city and they offer a free shuttle service from where ever you are staying to their stations.

If you just need to get around town there are several taxi companies, limousine services, and a small bus system. The Sunshine Bus Company is our county's public bus service. Fares are very reasonable and you'll pay as you board the bus (exact change required as drivers do not carry change). Service is available Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The route is quite extensive running from the south side of Jacksonville to SR 206 south of St. Augustine. Click here for a map of their routes.
