In the hotels category we’ll start out with our AAA Four Diamond Award Winner, the Casa Monica Hotel.
The crème de la crème, located in the heart of historic downtown. I believe this is one of the finest hotels in St. Augustine and one of the besthotels in Florida.
Casa Monica Hotel
Regal and elegant describe the Casa Monica Hotel. The building was built by William Warden in 1888 and later purchased by Henry Flagler. In 1999, it was completely restored and it is beautiful!
There are 138 guest rooms and suites which are very luxurious. Triple sheeted beds with feather duvets. Ah, how comfy, makes me sleepy just thinking about it.
The grand lobby is filled with a rich décor. When we want to feel very special we visit the Casa Monica. Whether an elegant dinner at their fine restaurant, 95 Cordova, or a cup of coffee on the porch, you will feel pampered and very special.
The Casa Monica is also a “pet friendly” hotel, they charge a $150 non-refundable pet policy per stay, they do not accept cats at the hotel & there is a 20lb weight restriction for dogs in certain pet rooms.
When making your reservation be sure to ask about additional fees.
The Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront is a newer waterfront hotel with a very unique design.
The 19 interconnected cottage-style buildings have Spanish Colonial facades inspired by our Spanish roots.
It’s convenient downtown location makes it easy to walk around town.
The rooms are lovely and very comfortable, some have a stunning view of the bay from their porches. Anyone interested in an early morning sunrise?
The on-site Aviles Restaurant, offers fine dining with unique dishes prepared by world-class chefs.
Be sure to ask when making your reservation about additional fees.
There are two St Augustine hotels on US 1 that are quite nice.
The Hampton Inn and the Holiday Inn. Very nice and very adequate; not too far from downtown and most of the historic sites.
Hampton Inn (904)829-1996
Holiday Inn (904)494-2100
The Country Inn & Suites is another fine hotel. It’s location on San Marco Avenue is in a quiet area on the north side of town just a short distance from historic downtown and the sights.
This relatively new hotel has spacious comfortable rooms, a business center, free high speed Internet, a free deluxe continental breakfast and a wonderful staff.
You’ll also appreciate the outdoor pool for a relaxing swim after your busy day. (904) 827-1766

For a wonderful local, reasonably priced hotel I really like the Bayfront Inn. As you can see from it’s name it is located right on the bay front; actually just across the street but there are no buildings to block the view.
A second story room is best. From your porch you can watch dolphin in the bay and you’ll have a great view of the St. Augustine Lighthouse. It is conveniently located right downtown.
It is an older hotel but they have just finished a complete renovation and the rooms are just delightful. Not exceptionally large, but for me, just right, and very nicely decorated.
Free on-site parking, continental breakfast, outdoor pool and heated spa make this a gem of a hotel. There are only 37 guest rooms and two suites, so make your reservations early. (904) 824-1681
Ok, now moving just a bit north across the river from these wonderful St. Augustine hotels is Vilano Beach. Maybe you would like to stay there. See what you think.
Vilano Beach Florida Hotels
Vilano Beach is just across the river from St. Augustine. Follow A1A north across the Usina Bridge, turn right when you reach A1A.
It is still a very small quaint Florida beach town with a lovely hotel we can recommend. The beach at Vilano is pristine with a fun tidal pool just the right size for children.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Oceanside Resort is just a hop, skip and a jump from the Atlantic Ocean and it’s just a short drive into St. Augustine.
This is another one of the finer hotels inFlorida. The 94 guest rooms and suites are outstanding and tastefully decorated. And oh boy, those triple sheeted beds again.
If you are an early riser I suggest a nice cup of coffee and a stroll on the beach to watch the sunrise. Or if not, you could make the short walk west to the river and watch the sunset from the pier.
Amenities include a free deluxe continental breakfast, swimming pool, spa, fitness center, and free parking. A great place to stay.
