We like clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated; add a little luxury and it’s a winner! There are many very nice St. Augustine hotels and some equally not-so-nice. We are going to share with you only the ones we recommend; those that I would reserve for my mom if she were coming for a visit. We’ll start out with our AAA Four Diamond Award Winner, the Casa Monica. The crème de la crème, located in the heart of historic downtown. I believe this is one of the finest hotels in St. Augustine FL.
Regal and elegant describe the Casa Monica Hotel. The building was built by William Warden in 1888 and later purchased by Henry Flagler. In 1999, it was completely restored and it is beautiful! There are 138 guest rooms and suites which are very luxurious. Triple sheeted beds with feather duvets. Ah, how comfy, makes me sleepy just thinking about it. The grand lobby is filled with a rich décor. When we want to feel very special we visit the Casa Monica. Whether an elegant dinner at their fine restaurant, 95 Cordova, or a cup of coffee on the porch, you will feel pampered and very special. When making your reservation be sure to ask about additional fees.
The Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront is a newer waterfront hotel with a very unique design. The 19 interconnected cottage-style buildings have Spanish Colonial facades inspired by our Spanish roots. It’s convenient downtown location makes it easy to walk around town if you are so inclined. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable, some have a stunning view of the bay from their porches. Anyone interested in an early morning sunrise? The on-site Aviles Restaurant, offers fine dining with unique dishes prepared by world-class chefs. Be sure to ask when making your reservation about additional fees.
There are two hotels on US 1 that are quite nice. The Hampton and the Holiday Inn. Very nice and very adequate; not too far from downtown and most of the historic sites. Hampton Inn (904)829-1996 The Holiday Inn (904)494-2100 Map and directions (opens in new window).
The Country Inn & Suites is another fine hotel. It's location on San Marco Avenue is in a quiet area on the north side of town just a short distance from historic downtown and the sights. This relatively new hotel has spacious comfortable rooms, a business center, free high speed internet, a free deluxe continental breakfast and a wonderful staff. They were very pleasant and helpful as I was "checking out" the rooms for you. You'll also appreciate the outdoor pool for a relaxing swim after your busy day.
A second story room is best. From your porch you can watch dolphin in the bay and you’ll have a great view of the St. Augustine Lighthouse. It is conveniently located right downtown. It is an older hotel but they have just finished a complete renovation and the rooms are just delightful. Not exceptionally large, but for me, just right, and very nicely decorated. Free on-site parking, continental breakfast, outdoor pool and heated spa make this a gem of a hotel. There are only 37 guest rooms and two suites, so make your reservations early. Vilano Beach Florida Hotels
It is still a very small quaint beach town with a lovely hotel we can recommend. The beach at Vilano is pristine with a fun tidal pool just the right size for children.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Oceanside Resort is just a hop, skip and a jump from the Atlantic Ocean and it's just a short drive into St. Augustine. This is another one of our finer hotels. The 94 guest rooms and suites are outstanding and tastefully decorated. And oh boy, those triple sheeted beds again. If you are an early riser I suggest a nice cup of coffee and a stroll on the beach to watch the sunrise. Or if not, you could make the short walk west to the river and watch the sunset from the pier. Amenities include a free deluxe continental breakfast, swimming pool, spa, fitness center, and free parking. A great place to stay. St. Augustine Beach Hotels
Don’t forget, the sightseeing trains and trolley tours will pick you up and deliver you back to your hotel after a day of sightseeing.
Hilton Garden Inn is a AAA three diamond hotel. Very nice and very comfortable. It is located just a half block from the ocean on the north end of St. Augustine Beach. Many amenities including pool, business center, high speed wireless, and fitness center. You’ll like it here. (904) 471-5559 Map and directions (opens in new window).
Castillo Real Hotel is a Clarion Collection upscale hotel featuring 60 rooms, each with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. We always like these amenities when traveling. When you stay here you are only steps to the beach. So set your alarm and catch sunrise over the ocean. It is a beautiful sight. They also have a delicious restaurant, La Cocina which is open daily.
The Hampton Inn, St. Augustine Beach offers guests spacious rooms, family suites and jacuzzi suites all beautifully decorated Florida style. Pamper yourself, after all it is vacation time. This is an ocean front hotel located one block from the municipal fishing pier. Amenities include beach cabana rentals, swimming pool, whirlpool and a deluxe continental breakfast. Sounds perfect to me!
