Just a reminder: please keep your pet on a short leash and, of course, it is only common courtesy to clean up after your pet and dispose of the waste properly. Even if you are in a park or at the St. Augustine Fort or Mission grounds please clean up. Children love to romp in the grass and it's not very pleasant to end up with ..., well you know. I know most pet owners are very responsible and I thank you for your consideration. One other important note: Please call and verify before visiting any of the businesses listed as sometimes their rules change. If you find something here that is incorrect please let us know. St Augustine Pet Friendly Hotels and InnsThere are many hotels in St. Augustine, FL that will allow you to bring your pet. This, however, is where my job gets a bit difficult. Most of the local hotels that accept pets are ones I just can't recommend to you. If you have been to my lodging pages you know that my criteria for making a recommendation to you is whether or not I would reserve the room for my Mom. Well, I only found a few that I would be comfortable reserving for my Mom. Here are the pet friendly hotels in Florida that I recommend:
St. Augustine Pet Friendly RestaurantsWe have found several St. Augustine restaurants that welcome pets, along with their owners, of course. You won't be able to eat inside due to health department regulations (unless you have a service dog) but you and your pet can enjoy eating on their delightful outdoor patios. I enjoy eating on the patios any time, with or without my doggie.
St. Augustine Pet Friendly AttractionsI have scouted around to see what attractions will permit you to bring your pet and there are several. All require your pet to be on a short leash.
St Augustine Pet Friendly Day CareSome of the attractions don't permit pets so you might want to think about a dog hotel or day care for a half day or full day. You can visit the sites and your pooch can romp and play with some new friends.
St Augustine Pet Friendly ParksAfter a day of sightseeing I know you and your dog will be ready to run and play. I know just the place. There is a pet park located at Treaty Park. It's fairly small but all the dogs I have seen there are having a fun time chasing each other and playing. There is also a one mile walking trail you could take advantage of, just make sure your dog is on a leash when he's outside of the dog park area.
You'll have a great time romping on the beach out at St. Augustine Beach, but there again your pet must be on a leash. St. Augustine VeterinariansI sincerely hope this doesn't happen, but you may find yourself in need of a Veterinarian while you are visiting. We highly recommend St. Augustine Veterinarian, Dr. Norma Haupt, D.V.M. of Animal Wellness Center. She has been our vet for many, many years. She is caring and compassionate and Molly, our aging Chihuahua, loves her. What more could you ask for.
