St. Augustine Traveler’s Tidbits
Issue 6

January 2009

Happy New Year from sunny St. Augustine! What a wonderful time to be in the Nation's Oldest City.

If you haven't been to see our beautiful downtown in all it's holiday glory, don't worry, there is still time. The Nights of Lights celebration continues until the end of January, so be sure to make your plans to visit.

When you are making your lodging plans be sure to check out this great tool, Hotels Combined. They search all the top accommodation sites to find the best hotel prices. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

You can find a link directly to many of the hotels we recommend on our hotels page.

A special note of recognition goes to Opus 39 and 95 Cordova.

These two exceptional local restaurants received the prestigious Golden Spoon Award which is presented by Florida Trend Magazine to restaurants that offer diners the very best in food, service and décor.

Congratulations to these fine dining establishments! Make your reservations so you can enjoy these award winning restaurants.

January in St. Augustine

Greetings from our home,

As I sit and write this note to you, my window is open and a gentle breeze is blowing in. It is a balmy seventy-two degrees... that was last week; this week? The fire is roaring and we're trying to keep warm. It was in the 30's this morning. They are calling for near record lows over the next few days.

Such is our winter weather, warm one minute cold the next. You just never know. When you pack for your visit include everything from your bathing suit to a winter coat as you never know which you will need.

Our beautiful Honey Bun
Our chicken, Honey Bun

I thought you might like to meet another member of our family, Jess' chicken, Honey Bun.

She is a beautiful Rhode Island Red and is very generous with her eggs. We gather one most every day. Although, she did stop laying in the fall for a month or so but once January arrived she started laying again. Fresh eggs, what a great breakfast!

Jim and I have several art shows lined up this spring. In January you'll find us at Dunedin, Indialantic and Sebastian. I hope you'll stop by and say hello.

I hope you'll take advantage of this wonderful time of the year and make plans to visit St. Augustine, you'll be glad you did.

We hope to see you soon.

All the best,
Lynn

What’s New at St-Augustine-Travel-Guide.com:

Several new pages are up that you'll want to be sure to look over.

You'll want to read our interview with Captain Zach McKenna. Zach is the owner of St. Augustine Eco Tours and a very knowledgeable naturalist. A great Interview.

Also, you'll want to check out our St. Augustine Eco Tours page. I would add this to your "must do" list of things to do while visiting.

Coming soon: St. Augustine Art and Culture pages where I'll introduce you to our talented artists, guide you to our local art galleries and tell you all about our monthly Artwalk and Uptown San Marco events. You won't want to miss this.

Be sure to check back often to see what‘s new.

Special St. Augustine Restaurant Review:

The Table Cafe
The Table Cafe, St Augustine Florida

The Table Cafe

St. Augustine has a unique charter school, The A.B.L.E. School (Academy of Business Leadership Education), that recently opened a delicious restaurant, The Table Cafe, adjacent to the school. The lucky students have a delicious lunch prepared for them every day and now the public can enjoy the same.

The Table Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. Chef Lisa Leonardi, a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America has prepared a delightful and diverse menu that changes seasonally.

Breakfast includes a roasted vegetable and goat cheese quiche, Black Forest ham, brie & blackberry preserve on french toast and a build your own breakfast. A great way to start your day!

Chef Leonardi prepares a lunch special and two soup creations every day. Rosemary chicken salad with toasted pumpkin seeds and red grapes served over mixed greens or maybe a ginger caesar salad with pecorino romano cheese would make the perfect lunch to keep you going as you tour around town.

Mark you calendar for February 14 as the Table Cafe is open for a special Valentine's dinner. It's the perfect place to take your special valentine for a fabulous dinner.(Reservations required)

I hope you'll give The Table Cafe a try - all proceeds are used to help fund the A.B.L.E. school.

Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Build Your Own Web Business

Have you thought about building your own web business? If I can do it you can do it. I highly recommend SiteSell, the company I use to build this site. What I love, is that they teach you how to build a web business not just put up a website. How to be successful.

Dr. Ken Evoy, the founder, really delivers. I have never met him, but you know what, he seems like a friend that really cares whether I and my fellow SBI'ers are successful. Dr. Evoy has changed lives! Check out My Website Story and see what you think.
