March in St. AugustineGreetings from our home, Welcome spring! | The violets and azealas are blooming, the goldfinches have arrived and the leaves are falling. Spring is slowly but surely on its way. I have lived in St. Augustine over twenty years and I still can't get used to leaves falling in the spring, but fall they do. Our live oak trees loose their leaves when new leaves emerge in the spring. You can easily recognize live oaks. They are quite large and have spreading branches many of which are draped with Spanish moss. You'll see them all around town. One of the largest, the Old Senator, sits right in the middle of the parking lot at the Howard Johnson just off San Marco Avenue. From the size of the trunk it has been estimated that this tree is over 500 years old. I spent the afternoon in town photographing our lovely downtown area and came across a pirate lady. After chatting with her and fellow pirate Tiger Lee, I learned about a wonderful, new, unique shop. I'll tell you more about it in my review below. It is so fun here, you just never know what you're going to find. Some of the best places are just around the corner on the side streets. So poke around and see what you can discover. I hope you're making plans to visit St. Augustine, you'll be glad you did. We hope to see you soon. All the best, Lynn

Special St. Augustine Restaurant Review: Look for the sign in the window. | The Cheese Wheel The Cheese Wheel has been a favorite of ours for many years. When the kids were young we lived within walking distance, they felt quite grown up when they were finally old enough to go out to lunch at the Cheese Wheel all by themselves. Recently, Chris was home and we stopped in and picked up a lunch to go. It was just as good as he remembered. He had his favorite, the bar-b-que sandwich and I had egg salad which was just the way I like it. Aren't memories wonderful? Now this isn't a fancy place, but it is very good and reasonably priced. You'll find it at the intersection of San Marco Avenue and SR 16 at the Old Sugar Mill.
Special St. Augustine Shop ReviewCrazy Eyed Elise N Tiger Lee from the South China Seas. | Pirate Portraits n' Treasures I came across this new, unique little shop today, purely by accident. I was out taking photographs and happened upon a beautiful pirate lady who I learned was Crazy Eyed Elise.
