April in St. Augustine

"Hello" from our home,

This has to be one of my favorite seasons! The March winds have whisked away most of the old leaves and catkins from the oak branches and now we are rewarded with trees full of brand new soft green leaves draped with Spanish moss. We have a sweet gum tree in the front yard that is still bare but soon, it too, will have its new spring greenery.

This is also the time of year the citrus trees are in full bloom. The scent is so sweet, nothing at all like citrus. As you wander around downtown you might just catch a whiff of the scent drifting through the air. If you smell a sweet perfume look around and see if you can find the orange tree.

Flocks of migrating warblers are finding St. Augustine irresistible this time of year, too. It's a treat for me to watch the tiny birds flitting around overhead.

As many of you know, I love the outdoors, and what better place to enjoy it than right here in St. Augustine, Florida.

Just the other day as I was driving into town on US1, I glanced over at Oyster Creek and saw twenty or so shore birds along the bank.

Of course I had to stop and see what all the excitement was about. It seems it was a great day for fishing! I grabbed my camera and ended up with some wonderful photos.

It certainly is wonderful living here.

I hope you're making plans to visit St. Augustine, you'll be glad you did.

We hope to see you soon.

All the best,
Lynn

Special Reviews:

Cortesses Bistro

Re-opening soon is Cortesses Bistro. This great little restaurant has been undergoing extensive renovations after a fire in the kitchen caused considerable damage. This month they will be open for business once again.

This wonderful restaurant features something everyone will enjoy. From Seafood crepe appetizers to Minorcan Stew you're in for a treat.

Cortesses Bistro was the first place winner in the Taste of St. Augustine, and the Chowder Debate. They were also received the "Clean Plate Award" presented to the cleanest restaurants in Northeast Florida.

You'll want to treat yourself to a meal at the Bistro. Located at 172 San Marco Avenue.
